Before you begin
Applications for the Megan Rand Scholarship are submitted through the official MGH Institute of Health Professions (MGH IHP) application form. This page will help you prepare before you submit. We encourage you to read the form before you continue.
Applications are only accepted in the fall of each year.

Students who are drawn to service in medically underserved communities and who are prepared to approach these experiences with the same thoughtfulness, initiative, and care are encouraged to apply.
Choosing a rotation
Applicants may pursue rotations already affiliated with the MGH IHP PA Studies program. They may work with the program to develop their own domestic or international rotation ideas. They may also read past recipients’ stories to learn about other possible pathways.
What to prepare
Before completing the official application, be sure to gather the following:
Your current PA school GPA
Your resume or CV
One optional letter of recommendation from a previous service experience
Draft responses to the short-answer questions on the MGH IHP application form
The application asks you to briefly address:
Why you are applying and what you hope to gain from the experience
Your long-term goals, the people you hope to serve, and how this scholarship supports that path
Your proposed clinical site and an estimated budget for travel, food, and housing
We suggest that you draft and revise your answers before submitting them via the form.
